Happy, happy Thanksgiving!
I do apologize that it's been just a little while since I've posted anything here, but between work and preparing for the holiday, I've been a bit busy. We're also trying (big emphasis on TRYING) to pack up our apartment right now.
Since Jarrett leaves for Basic not long after the holiday season (and our vacation in February), we're moving in with my parents ASAP. I'll be staying with them while he's gone, which will be until sometime next November. I am not excited about him being gone for so long, but our family will benefit so greatly from this change.
Anyway, to the obligatory Thanksgiving blog entry...
On holidays, Jarrett and I do our very best to make sure that we can visit both sides of our families. Today was no different. We ate lunch at his grandparent's house, then hustled over to my parent's for an early dinner. Of course, that ended up being an immense amount of food. That's totally okay by Jarrett and I paced myself at his grandparent's. I was looking forward to the desserts that my mom had made. She's a MASTER baker... (If you're local, check out her website, Hullabaloo)
After dinner, I sent Jarrett home to take a nap before work (which he didn't end up doing...) and my parents and I headed to Wal-Mart for a little Black Friday shopping, which I completely adore. I can definitely say that I came home with some gems. However, very little of it was actual gifts. Most of it was just... Stuff that we needed. I super duper excited.
I got
- a deep fryer
- a crock pot
- several DVDs and TV show box sets (including American Horro Story: Freak Show AND American Horror Story: Hotel!)
- a Chromecast (which will be AWESOME for when Jarrett's gone. I'll be able to throw our Skype sessions onto our TV for Bodhi!)
I got Jarrett a couple of Christmas presents as well. I can't post those here, of course, he reads this posts.
I was actually looking for cartoons to buy for Bodhi, buuut I couldn't find all of the ones I wanted. There are some others that weren't on sale that I plan to buy later. He's in desperate need of Finding Dory, I'm sure of it. My parents bought Bodhi a Christmas present, as well as a new fleece blanket to use as a play mat. Now he doesn't have to steal mine anymore and I'm so glad! Fleece blankets are one of my favorite things in the world.
All in all, I am SUPER excited. My crock pot is even copper, which begins my journey of collecting copper kitchenware. I'm also currently working on collecting office stuff so I can put together an in-home office when we move. Having my own space to write/read/relax is incredibly important to me. Sometimes even mamas need a teeny-tiny break, you know?
I hope you all had a FANTASTIC holiday today and that this fantastic, festive season continues to be great!
